John R. Marion III was the guest speaker at the National Roofers Contactractors Association in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1980, and wrote an article for (RSI) Roofing Siding Insulation magazine.
John R. Marion started his business on a handshake in 1930, and to this date we abide by the strict ethical code of business principles that were handed down, by him, three generations later. Just think, our grandfather started a roofing company durning the Great Depression in 1930 in Canton, Ohio to generate enough income to feed, clothe and educate 10 children; 8 sons and 2 daughters. All 8 of his sons had no choice in getting paper routes and cutting grass to make money! They instantly became laborers in the roofing trade. Till this date none of us really know if his business was driven by fear to survive or the dream of being an entrepreneur. We have in our archives a roof that was put on in 1950 for $625 dollars. Even though times have dramitically changed, the trade and heritage has been passed on for 3 generations.
